Roster section updated -- names altered
Permalink Closed

My winter break is almost over, so I'll be especially productive these coming days before my spare time goes back to zero!

The wrestlers, champions, and governing body pages are now active with links instead of the static image. You will notice that all the wrestler names have been tweaked to prevent us from turning up in search engines. I tried to be as creative as possible with the names without losing their "essence" if you will. The profiles are also up and running with basic stats (height, weight, DOB) but no angles or ring styles have been specified.

The one roster section I have not yet finished is the minor leagues. The Phoenix division is almost done (only to tweak the names) while the Masters division still needs images. And speaking of images, here are what the belts will look like in full view:

Even though I have reservations about side leagues to the main roster, the Masters and Phoenix divisions allow for more selection and aren't as many as before.

The belts look particularly good but the Middleweight belt doesn't seem to have as much "bling" as the others, though that may be its own appeal.

About the aliases, would future writing have to use them or are they limited to the personal profiles?

Spot on commentary as always Jan. The Middleweight title is lacking the "bling" of the other five so here's a slight alteration to get the job done. The symbol may feel weird at first but I figure the middleweights are a balance between speed and power so...

I share your reservations about the side leagues and they will be handled with caution. The minor league page is now updated and you'll notice their rosters are smaller than first envisioned. Again, this section would operate independently from the main roster, allowing writers to turn in an odd match here and there (like the Extras section of old).

I've decided to nix the fake wrestler names for the time being and return to the real names. This league will be down until the latter part of 2007 (fingers crossed) so it will be interesting to see if we get any "bites" from disgruntled fitness stars. Hopefully, the alterations I made to the HTML will keep the pages hidden. As it is, there isn't much to get upset over. There aren't even any angles... yet!

Let's face it—the fake names didn't look right. Now just a suggestion...
Looking at the roster, it might be possible to rely on first names only once you are up and running again—providing you are selective enough with the cast—it would certainly work for the HW's you have on the list. That might just solve a potential problem or two.

Nigel.

Yeah, those fake names tend to roll off the tongue the wrong way. It would be distracting for readers and writers alike.

But I am intrigued by your "name alternative" Nigel. It's shockingly simple and would prove quite effective. On one hand it seems natural to have a full name mentioned during the match intro or winner declaration. On the other hand, several characters in the wrestling world do go by a one-word title so it's not unusual.

I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind. The EFW won't start tomorrow and I'm curious if my HTML maneuvers will keep our profiles from showing up on search engines. If they fail to do that... you've given me a very viable alternative!

I'm still mixed for reasons I'm not at liberty to discuss out in the open.
