Roster Profile update
Permalink

It took a while, but I was able to get my creative juices flowing. Bios have been written for Ahmo Hight and Jenny Lynn, and you can see how their profiles' layout differs from all the others. There are now areas to describe:

  • Physique - fast & agile (but less durable), balanced, strong & durable (but slower)
  • Wrestling style - old school, power, technical, high flyer, brawler, martial artist, etc (breakdowns in 25%, 50%, or 33% only)
  • Attire - description of the usual outfit worn by this wrestler

Suggestions/critiques are always welcome.  If you'd like to supply bios for some of the wrestlers please let me know.

This might seem a bit harsh but I'm at odds 2/3.

I was ultimately against an EFW dress code, and an Attire section seems to be in the same vein. It's implicitly restrictive and needless if even the same writer eventually wants to try for something different in his wrestler's matches. Instead of standard attire for all wrestlers or for each individual, perhaps there should be a dress code: for example, no wearing high heels to fights or partial/complete nudity.

I feel Physique is likewise needless when a wrestler's profession and height/weight stats should provide all the information needed. When I see April Hunter the 5'9", 150-lb. fitness woman, I get it in my head that she isn't as hard as a bodybuilder but - against an equally tall/heavy bodybuilder - is still big enough to be able hang with more emphasis on speed and agility and no "reach advantage". The height, weight, speed, and durability would undoubtably be more emphasized if the 115-lb. Tina Jo was facing either heavyweight. Something more serious that also defeats the purpose of Physique is that some writers will just write whatever; I might be mistaken but I recall a few matches where lightweights like Nikki Warner were btch-slapping heavyweights!

I think Wrestling style is good because it's a more exact and standard replacement for the old In-Ring Strategy. But I'm not sure about calculating the percentages. Maybe instead there could be "primary", "secondary", "tertiary" ("quaternary", etc.) styles that a wrestler may call on in that order...or out of order if the story has some mind games going on.

My 3 cents.

Good points about the Style, Physique, and Attire sections, Jan. If a writer spins his or her yarns without honoring what's written in the profile ... what good are they? It always did irritate me when a lightweight outmuscled a wrestler twice her size. I will adopt a "wait and see" attitude for now. These areas can be deleted with ease if need be.

Also I'd like to thank Jan and Otto for contributing some quality angles for wrestlers. Jan has been playing around with the Masters division while Otto has the Lightweights on his mind. I will mention the specific profiles when I update the site.

Added to the main roster: Colette Nelson.

Added to the Masters division: Nikki Fuller and Raye Hollitt.

That completes the main roster, leaving about 10 free spots for new talent. Suggestions are welcome in the Wish List forum.
